Why Do Some Writers Charge So Little

I have been reading the forums a little bit and found an interesting question, why some writers charge so little and the poster specify about freelancer, I have asked myself the same question and tried many of them, what I can say? You get what you pay for:

Having joined Freelancer .com i am amazed at some of the quotes people give to do writing. 20c per 100 words and even lower…its not worth the effort surely?
Can people really expect good written content for that money?
I write articles / reviews for various magazines and the minimum i get paid for a published 200 word review is £20 (14$?)…even that is basic, so i dont think i will bother with freelancer if im competing with that sort of money…

I would like to recommend those type of writers to hold on and bid on your own price. Many people and I am one of them, search for quality + price. Getting quality articles and I mean professional, clean and interesting articles. Many other webmaster think the same way:

I would stick at it guys, there are plenty of people whom will pay for quality, especially after they have forked out $$’s on poor quality articles. I would do something gimmicy to get the customers initially interested – they will come back if your providing great quality.

Really, hiring a good writer can be very difficult But when you find the right way, it can make your life easier than ever. Also I should mention, there are writers that really ask ridiculous prices like someone which someone in the office contacted he asked $75 for 400 words. I just laugh when I read his email and told my partner to just ignore him.

So let me tell you, if you are a good writer and have good prices you will succeed, if you are searching for a job let me know how much you ask for an article of minimum 400 with some examples may be I have some work for you.

It really depends on the type of content, amount of research needed, and other criteria. If you consider something like copywriting, firms can charge thousands of dollars for a three word slogan.

A 400-word article for $75 sounds perfectly fair, given the right context. That’s only 19 cents a word and the standard ghostwriting rate for many professionals is north of 50 cents a word. I’ve heard of several who charge upwards of $2 a word for a well-researched magazine piece.

Yes, that’s true that some writers charge $2 a word for a well-researched magazine or even more. But we are talking about the internet. In my point of view, if I want to make an article in a magazine, or even to write an ebook which I know I will sell very well and get the money back I will pay a professional writer whatever he ask (quality) but I am against paying for an insane amount per free articles or a blog post which I can do it perfectly.

If this is the case, I prefer to hire professional writers or even english students that do the work very well with a low cost. You are the same Michael Kwan that wrote a book with John Chow?

This is just a snapshot or a smaller piece of the hologram that is a world wide phenomenon!

India, China, and countries like it have really been hitting developed nations hard by using cheap labor. What you are seeing is a symptom of the new global economy!

But in this life, we wouldn’t know light if there was no darkness.

In other word, where there is a pro, there will almost certainly be a con.

Those people charging 20c an article are probely getting so much business that they can’t even consider the quality of what they are doing.

They essentially turn themselves into a one man/woman factory producing poor articles in the quickest and easiest way available while most of the time not doing any research or understanding the essence of what they are writing. Remember they are trying to get the most money the can in one day.

You can make alot of bank selling articles, but you have to find the weakness of there strategy in order to do that. And trust me, its there. YOU just gave up when you saw what you thought was the game. (oh, there selling article for this much, I can’t compete) you say.

I’m gonna let YOU figure out a way to get around this, but don’t give up just yet! You can take it from here. Good luck!

    Hi,

I have noticed that the ones who write for so low usually do it because they are new, or maybe they just really need the money. Some feel that they are not as “qualified” to write for that price and get confused when they see people offering services that low. It is sad that there isn’t one website that pays the writers the money they deserve. I belong to one that pays but even then he cuts the money in half and I get more doing things somewhere else.

I think that maybe what you should consider doing is changing the title of when you’re looking for work. If you do press releases then you can make $$$$ of money because people always and should pay top notch for a press release. If you have a degree then sell it in your posts and let them know. Tell them your experience. If you don’t see this in a post then my gut feeling tells me that they are very much a newbie

My going rate is .01 per word but I negotiate with my clients sometimes on bulk articles and I love doing very short articles so I try to work with them on that. The reason being is I know we’re living in tough times right now and money is tight for a lot of people. If it wasn’t for article writing, I wouldn’t have money at all.

Wow, did I ramble! Sorry about that. Anyway, be a shining light to the newbies in the article world and lead the way back into what most should be making but just remember – with money being tight for a lot you still might not get 100% satisfaction.
