New .CO domain extension Replacement of .com?
April 27, 2010
I don´t know why I love to get the new domain extensions. Three years ago, I have registered few domain names with the .us.com domain extension when it first launched. Believe, got a lot of potential domain names and one of them will be launched soon and will let you know (some of my loyal readers already know which one, will be big).
Now, mydomain is doing the pre-launch right now. I believe, .co is another great domain extension. If you check, Google.co have right now it´s domain name. I believe that also another good thing is that .co will have the traffic potential because many users (including me) sometimes they type .co instead of .com. If you really want to try this new domain extension you can pre-register them right now. Before you go ahead and reserve some of your domain names I would like to offer a coupon code that you can save 15% OFF also if you are interested to check the sister site dotster coupons so you can get better discounts:
Save on new domains, web hosting, and VPS now through Sunday, May 2nd only.
Just enter coupon code 15PERCENT at checkout to save.
This coupon code is not valid for .co pre-registration but is valid for any other domain name extension.

I definitely see the .co domains taking over .com, there are so many .com domain names registered right now, and it is so overcrowded that new companies and startups will have more opportunities and new options to register .co domains and choose a good name for the new business.
.CO Domains

I’m not sure I agree with the traffic potential of .CO domains for people who simply forget to type the m at the end of the domain. Any cybersquatters who pick up domains which benefit from that sort of traffic from typos will run the risk of the brand in question legally recouping the .CO again.
However, the .CO has huge potential to online marketing in my opinion. I’ve pre registered quite a number of general availability .CO domains with LCN – http://www.lcn.com/co_domain_names as they are doing a no-win no-fee system. I believe the resale value of the ones I secure will certainly outweigh the investment.
The sunrise stage of .CO will not really give a good indication to the potential of this domain as large brands will certainly secure the .CO to avoid any future headaches. The Landrush auction prices people are will to pay will really give domainers and online marketers a clear insight as to the potential uptake of this extension.

This sounds a lot lot those ideas of taking common misspellings of popular domains. When people see that their not at the domain they were trying to go to, they’ll catch their mistake and quickly correct it. I don’t see too much potential in that respect. And I believe .com will always be king.

.COdomainNews.com – predicted that the 500,000th .CO Domain Registration Land-Mark would take place on or before Monday September 13th, 2010 – Source .COdomainNews.com
From August 26th, 2010 to September 08th, 2010 — or over the period of the last 13 days, there have been 31,947 new .CO Registrations.
484,696 – 452 749 = 31, 947 — .CO Registration, August 26th, 2010/ September 08th, 2010
484,696 – New .CO Registrations as of Wednesday, September 08, 2010
31 947 / 13 = 2,457 new .CO Registrations per day over the last 13 days…
With 5 days left in the prediction it looks like that we may come up a bit short, but it will be close.
5 x 2457 = 12, 285 (Guesstimate of new .CO Registration over next 5 days to Monday September 13th, 2010)
484,696 – (New .CO Registrations as of Wednesday, September 08, 2010), — plus 12, 285 (Guesstimate of new .CO Registration over next 5 days to Monday September 13th, 2010)
484,696 + 12,285 = 496, 981
496, 981 – (Guesstimate of new .CO Registrations by Monday September 13th, 2010)
500,000 – (Originally predicted by Monday September 13th, 2010)
Minus
496, 981 – (Guesstimate of new .CO Registrations by Monday September 13th, 2010)
500,000 – 496, 981 = 3, 019 — (3,019 off the Mark)
Only time will tell if we .COdomainNews.com is 3,019 domains off the mark. But regardless, .CO Registration is still clipping along…

The CO domain extension has been nothing but a big scam! This is a country specific domain name and will never take the place of .com or .net. These domains are worthless here in the United States. If you want a country specific domain, get the .us extension.
Plus, the way they are trying to deceive Americans into thinking this is some kind of global domain name is sicking. America is basically the only place these domains are being marketed because they know a few American corporations are willing to try and sell them with out informing their customers that they are domain extensions specific to Colombia.
Almost every country has their own domain extension and they are all going to be promoting their own country specific extensions over the .co. This domain is simply worthless anywhere but Columbia.

overstock.com switched their site to o.co so some corporations might do it
