Question: What are the statistics for online shoppers buying jewelry? I’m hesitant of going into this area coz first of all, I’m not an expert (but I’m willing to learn) and I’m curious what the conversion rate for sales online are. Does anyone have experience in this area?

Answer: Relatively cheap stuff can sell pretty well, stuff under $1000.00, lots of times high end stuff will sell (especially this time of year) but some of the merchants who sell lots of the high end stuff only give you a 30-day cookie.

If you’re using some of the merchants in LinkShare you may see 50% or more of your high ticket items come in as non-commissionable. Usually the longer the cookie, the worse the site converts and so far, the sites that convert don’t seem to be willing to extend the cookie duration to give credit for the high ticket sales that come through after 30 days.

If you have a really good jewelry site with lots of pre-sell info, then it could potentially be a profitable sector.
