Adsense and YouTube
June 23, 2007
You know how Google is strict with copyright and many publishers are worried if they use YouTube in their site they will get banned because the video is copyrighted or not. But remember that users in YouTube is allowed to “allow embedded” or not. If they allow it. It means that you can put it in your site right?
Here is a nice discussion about this topic:
As part of my website I want to show a selection of Youtube videos, they are all home made videos, tourist type videos
Is it ok for me to display these Youtube videos with Adsense?
I haven’t seen anybody do this other than blogs, thus my question.
Thank you.
That’s an interesting question I hadn’t considered. I did a couple of youtube videos on topics relating to my sites. I then embedded the videos into my site.
I’m going to have to re-read the TOS. I would think that showing my videos on my site would be OK but you never know.
I had also started to embed other relevant, apparently homemade, videos as well.

I wouldn’t know about this. The video is someone else’s work and therefore is copyrighted. By taking the video and hosting it on your page…. wouldn’t it be similar to scraping/stealing copyrighted content? In this case, the content is the video.
This also brings up the topic of hot linked photos. I recently had a forum that was hot linking some of my photos in threads with AdSense. I requested that the photos be taken down and they were. It did cross my mind that the forum owner was possibility in breach of the AdSense TOS.
Are Youtube videos always copyrighted? Uploaders can choose whether or not they let others embed the videos on their sites, so I guess that counts as a permission (as long as they are the copyright owners of the uploaded video of course).
I display Youtube and Gvideos, mostly mine since over a year with now problem ..
Although I went now for my own flash solution as the embedded videos only serve one purpose: to suck your traffic to youtube ..
And that youtube et al. cares about copyright must be a new thing ..

you definitevely can use adsense and youtube. There is nothing wrong with copyright because the users make it available to us bloggers to share it in our sites
