There are many people asking if promoting a dating site is good enough. Of course dating sites give you the best comissions over the net. You can find dating sites offering you per sale: $90 to $150 or per lead: $1 to $5. Even you can find dating sites offering you per click basis. Those commissions are pretty good and anyone would like to succeed with this niche.

I have tried this niche and let me tell you is hard enough. Tried with Google adwords, yahoo marketing and websites. Even I created a website called Match Making tips. Let me tell you the story.

Affiliate millions is one of the books that I have bought through amazon. This book teach you how to use search marketing to make money online. Then I created many campaigns for the dating site that I wanted to promote. I received many clicks and my CTR was damm good (approx: 30%) but guess what? No sales!. That was frustrating.

Then I got an idea to email the owners of this book and hope to get an answer from them, they are experts no?

This is my email sent to them (Note Some parts have been removed):

I have bought your “Affiliate Millions” book from amazon.com. I read it and was amazing. After re-reading it and taking notes the most important points on your book. I started an adword campaign to promote new niches. I have many sites which are well stablished but never used adwords with affiliate programs. Also I have a cj account since 2003.

My concern, is that I have received many clicks and my CTR is from 10% to 40% and that is a good thing because my avarage per click is from $0.05 to $0.5 but have been 5 days and did not get any sale. The niches that I was working for:
XXXXX (which is huge) and match making / Dating. My ads was writting as you mentioned on the book. The keywords for example: Match making Online or like Finding your love in the description a few words that the service provide: “check pictures as a member” (to tell them that they have to register. And the last line something: “free & easy registration” as you mentioned.

But I have seen that users clicks on the ads but don’t make any lead/sale. Why do you think the problem is? If my ads have a good CTR and the ads clearly states that they have to sign up. I tried with 5 similar product companies and none have been worked.

…The two markets you mention are pretty competitive. Online dating sites pay pretty good commissions, but that is because its actually pretty hard to get people to make that jump, and a lot of people ‘flirt’ with the idea of joining an online dating site, and you can’t really count on catching them on that lucky day when they have made up their mind. What most successful
Online-Dating affiliates have done is set up a page of their own, encouraging people to take that plunge, and listing lots of online dating services. This way, they hope that the flirters will remember their site as a one stop shop for finding dating services and go back there when they are finally ready to join.

An added benefit… many people who finally do join a dating service, actually join a bunch of them. That give these dating
landing pages the advantage of possibly earning multiple conversions on the same version….

I tested what they said and it really works, apart from my website match making tips I am doing very well with a landing page that it only list the best dating sites. So the question Who does make big money on dating? I can say that I am doing very well don’t know if my amount is big money for you but at least is working for me.
