Affiliate marketing only works with Pay per click?

Stumble it!Before I go and talk about affiliate marketing, let me tell you that yesterday was my mother birthday and we were enjoying her birthday in a great restaurant for 6 damm hours! Coming back from there I was checked some affiliate networks statistics and took just one that come from Comission Juction to share with you.
Checking some blogs for the past week, I have seen talking about comission juction very bad and I was really scared about it. But since 2005 I didn’t have any problems or delays with comission juction, oh let me remember yes just one!. The check was sent and it was lost, then I emailed cj telling to stop the check and send it again, the next day they sent me a reply that they have stopped the check and sent it again (late 2005 if I remember well).
Well, many bloggers that I have checked they live from affiliate marketing but using pay per click (Adwords, Yahoo Marketing and MSN adcenter). I am not really great about it but as you can check my favorite books I have started to learn and study about it. I had my own campaigns but just targeting traffic to my new sites and some to googlelady.com. But from affiliate programs I can say that I am still in the stage of learning.
Ok Now the question, is affiliate marketing for ppc only?
Since the beggining of making sites and then blogs I have making money with affiliate marketing through websites. Today (19 september 2007) have bypass my comission junction goal for $300 per one day! This is the small screenshot for my 19th september earning through comission junction only:
Remember I was out of my computer while I was making +$300 USD

This is my personal Comission Juction account which I use in Googlelady.com only. But in case you ask, I have another account which “we (group of friends)” run a “network of blogs/sites”. Optimizing (SEO) my blog helped me a lot to get those kind of comissions.

Also when you started affiliate marketing, did you just test with one product first and then add to what you were doing?
What do you use to build your sites?
I posted this on another article that you had and wasn’t sure if you would see it, so I posted here as well.
