In my previous article about Top 6 reasons why link building is harder in 2007 than in 2001 talks about how hard is to build your links compared to 2001. I have seen many new bloggers this year and I am sure that already there are many that have been frustrated and stopped blogging. Here are some tips on how you can improve your blog popularity.
This is one of the most important thing in blogs. Write UNIQUE content, and please don’t re-write what others are saying or try to make it unique. We need unique, new and fresh information. Ask yourself this question, Why a reader will prefer to read my blog than other blogs?
Search for blogs in your niche and comment there, at least 1 comment per post that they make. It will be good to comment on blogs that have Top Commentator, so you can be listed there, You will get a lot of traffic believe me!
If you are an active member in a forum, put your signature there.
Link Bait: is a good method to get tons of backlinks. I did it once with an adbrite plugin which Pud (thanks baby!) have linked in adbrite blog and that is a good backlink from a pagerank 8 and a quality site. Try to think “out of the box” and make something unique, bloggers will love it!
Submit articles that you think it will worth in Digg, Strumbleupon, and others..
If you have budget to spend in advertising, I will recommend using Google adwords, Text Link Ads, tnx.net check the TNX.net review and others similar sites. Note, research first the site that you will advertise on it e.g: traffic, pagerank…
Make a review of a blog, and email the blogger telling that you made a review about them. First you will get that blogger into your blog and may be he will love your blog and visit it constantly and also it is a possibility that he will link some of your posts in his/her blog.

Yes, I totally agree with writing unique content! Not just unique contextually but also unique in topic.
Reviewing another blog is great, I’m starting to see more of that, in fact, there was a guy doing video reviews too.

Yes, video reviews is a great way to review. But if you ask me I will prefer a text review.

Great tips – but unique content is soooo difficult in the make money online arena. It seems lots of sites do regurgitate everyone else’s . . .

Michelle, I agree with you but then why not opening another niche?
