TimeStamp Powerfull Blog Tool
October 27, 2007
I have been reading a lot blog posts saying that they are sorry for not being able to post XX days ago because they were to busy, they were on vacation, bla bla bla… But everytime that I read this on certain blogs I came to a conclusion that there are two reasons why they make this:
1. They don’t know about the timestamp tool.
2. They are not appasionated about their blog niche.
Also you may see many blogging tips about this saying that putting a guest blogger to blog for you but what about those bloggers that don’t have “guest bloggers”? For this issue, I always call the timestamp tool. When I know that I will go on vacation for xx days I make articles so when I am on vacation or I can’t blog it will be updated always depending on your post frequency (Googlelady post frequency is minimum 1 per day).
Another good tip to prevent something that is not in your hand for example being sick or having a rush day. What I always do is to put 10-15 articles on hold (Yes, that is 10 to 15 days free of blogging) with the timestamp tool. If I have time and I got a new news about Google for example, or any other offer I will post the same day when it is live.
I have mentioned #2 that they are not passionated about their niche blog, are those bloggers that don’t know what to write and always wait someone else to make an article and write something “similar” with the same idea.
For those that don’t know what is the timestamp it looks like this:

and it is located when you write an article in your right hand after “Post Status”. It is really a great tool and you have to use it whenever you have a clear mind and many ideas to write about. Many bloggers use one day of the week to write for the whole week and problogger is one of them. Hope that helps!

How intriguing. Having your blog on auto pilot. Perhaps, one needn’t just use this when are on vacation, etc. But also to use this feature to have posts published at a certain time, on time, on schedule, everyday.

[...] Posting on a regular basis doesn’t mean you gotta write a post every day. For example, you could make five posts on monday and publish them one after another through the week using the timestamp tool. [...]

Hi,
For me, I think guest blogging is better than timestamping. At least when you ask people to write for you, that person will help you monitor the post he wrote and reply to the commentators. When we timestamp, our commenting readers expecting a reply might thought that we are giving them a cold shoulder.

Hey Wayne,
but not all blogs have the chance to get guest bloggers. (btw if anyone wants to be a guest blogger in Googlelady you are welcome to drop me an email).
There are some pro’s and con’s having guest bloggers as well. One of the pros you mentioned but the con’s is what if your readers don’t like what your guest blogger wrote?

I used to timestamp posts (backdating) as a result in the beginning I had a daily post. But it was when I had not readers and I was doing it for my own. Timestamp has it’s con. My experiance are for hosting with wordpress.com. If you timestamp your post for a future date, the post although appears on blog at specified date/time but the post doesn’t appear on the wp.com-wide compilation of posts (based on tags/categories). It only appears when you publish in realtime.

I have not found this on the wordpress 2.5 version upgrade. Is it still there? On blogspot they have a beta future post version accessed at dratfs.blogger.com. Can we activate this feature in WP2.5?

Yes is there. Something like “schedule post”, or “time”…
