Week 1: Domain Name, Hosting and Blog Installation

This is week 1 summary of Make Money Online case study. Here are the steps that I did to make it live:

Domain Name and Hosting

I have 2 choices to buy a domain name, one from Godaddy and one from Namecheap. Both are ok, but godaddy offers Godaddy coupon codes from hosting and domain names, but when I told the CEO of eTalk Network about this new case study that I am doing he offered me his namecheap account and his dedicated server, but I will deduct it from my budget and supposing that I bought it from Godaddy.

Why Godaddy?
GoDaddy.com is cheaper than Namecheap and I had no problems with them in my 6 years account. The Domain name will cost $9.99 per year without any godaddy coupon code. As we suppose that I bought and spent the money I told my friend that I will pay him the same amount of money that I will buy from GoDaddy. So I spent for the domain name $9.99 (which you can get it less with the coupon codes) and spent $55 USD for the hosting on Godaddy using this coupon code: GLE100307 which gives you $20 OFF in all GoDaddy.com Hosting Plans.

Anyone can get a cheaper hosting using coupon codes like: 1and1 Coupon Codes and Hostgator Coupon Codes. There are many hosting companies that you can choose.

Blog Installation

I decided to use WordPress as my blog platform and everyone knows what are the benefits to use it no? Free themes, free plugins and open source. (easier as well). So I went to WordPress.org and downloaded the last wordpress version and installed it to my hosting accounts, there are hosting accounts like Godaddy and Hostgator that you can install wordpress with few clicks. As an experienced user installing wordpress it took me just few minutes to install my wordpress blog.

WordPress Themes

After installing my blog, I have to decide which theme I will use (and decided to use the same one as googlelady) You can find many free wordpress themes in the following sites:

  • ThemesPress is a service that allows you to automatically convert your HTML and CSS based design into a WordPress blog theme, allowing you to take full control of the look of your blog without having to know or bother with PHP. Get your design powered by WordPress in minutes!

If you have any suggestion please comment here and let me know so I can add it to the list.

Search Engine Optimization on SEO

Remember an article about Plan your site with SEO in mind. So I applied WordPress Search engine optimization so it can help me to rank well on search engines. You can check what I did here: SEO for WordPress.

WordPress Plugins

I decided to install some of the following plugins at the beggining so it will be easier to manage my blog easier.

  • Akismet: Is build-in plugin for wordpress which you just have to activate it. (anti-spam)
  • FeedBurner FeedSmith: Originally authored by Steve Smith, this plugin detects all ways to access your original WordPress feeds and redirects them to your FeedBurner feed so you can track every possible subscriber. By FeedBurner.

Amazon Affiliate program:
I have signed up for amazon affiliate program and for sure will take 2-3 days to be approved. In the future will sign up for more affiliate programs and other affiliate networks as well. You can Sign up here

After 2 days my amazon account was approved and added a new ID which is Amazonwall-20
My current statistics:

amazon referral program

I also would use Comission Juction and try to find the best advertisers, I have my new site to my account as “Coupon Codes Mall” so I can show how much I earned from that site.

Summary:
Domain Name Case Study: CouponCodesMall.com
Started Budget: $100
Total Spent: $65 (domain name and hosting)
Earned Budget: $0

Any suggestion or opinion to see what I can improve in this stage just comment it here
