Widget Bucks or Fake Bucks
November 9, 2007
Since widgetbucks went to public, almost every blogger talked about them but after a 1-2 months widgetbucks publishers are very frustrated about them, this is one of many frustrated publishers:
I was using widget bucks for a month, it was looking to me a good program because the click rate was higher than google adsense. Today when I loggined to my account i found they deleted all my one week earning without any reason, before this I had problems with ads, it was showing nothing I sent them email but still no reply.
Now neither its recording page impression nor showing me any warning or problem.
I haven’t got paid from this program and many people are also waiting.. its looking to me fake bucks than widget bucks.
I recommend you all to use this program with caution!
Thanks,
jcodemasters
I have read similar stories, where widget bucks delete or ban publishers account without any reason or with one useless reason to not pay their publishers. I don’t remember where I read that a publisher earned a lot of money from Widget bucks and for a little reason they have banned his account and re-stated with the condition of deleting all his earnings, the reason was because this publisher was sending Non-US traffic (not all), in the meantime there were no policy that said: “US-Traffic Only” after a week of this problem they updated their policy.
I never liked the pay per click programs that compare shopping products (hardware, software,etc..) because if my blog is able to get sales from those pay per click program I prefer to advertise directly from that merchant and earning a percentage per sale than a few cents per click. The only way, I may put those type of widgets in my blog is when there is no sales and there is a lot of clicks. A good example of why not using “pay per click programs” like this is my ongoing project Make Money Online in 3 Months after 10 days I have sold my first item from Amazon and got $16.90, do you think from your new blog you will have earned more than that with this type of widget/programs? I don’t think so.

I’ve just received mail from them:

Dear Sir or Madam,
We have detected suspicious activity that may be indicative of
fraudulent click-through activity on a number of your widgets in
violation of section 4 of the widgetbucks Terms of Use. As a result,
we have suspended your account pending further investigation.

What a bullshit, I stopped displaying WB 2 weeks ago because of slow loading and low performance.

I have seen a lot of such complaints but I didn’t get a ban even though my account has been dormant for a long time, which means I am not putting the widget in any sites. I am like the rest of the pack as well, waiting for them to pay.
I know WB is a pro-publisher program since it is CPC-based but this won’t do good in a way if the clicks don’t transfer into sales. Advertisers might be paying much more with a lower ROI.

Hmm.. Maybe widgetbucks didn’t think this through enough. Maybe they should try doing CPA.

I agree with your comment about PPC product ads – just the other day I changed the ads on one of my blogs from widget bucks to Amazon Affiliate widgets showing products FAR more relevant to my blog than WB did. Surely that makes more sense in the long run!

Found this post by Googling “widget bucks” and am quite glad I did!
Had heard about WB on the Warrior Forum ( a rave review) and was interested in replacing a few of my AdBrite ads with WB, but will definitely adopt a “Wait and See” attitude on these guys…
Thanks for the heads up GoogleLady!

[...] Some blogger complains that it’s actually a trap that lure bloggers to put their ads up, help them expand their advertisement network, but they didn’t actually pay. If you look up for widgetbucks scam or keywords of these sort, you can see alot of the similar comments that’s featured at iguides.org, moneyblogger.org, blogstorm.co.uk or googlelady.com. [...]
