HostColor is another web hosting company which have been in this business since 2000. They want to compete with bigger hosting companies and that’s one of the reason they have purchased a review. Usually, when I do a review for a company that I didn’t test it or didn’t know about it, I always like to make a research about it and try my best to make a quality and honest review. Here is a short interview with Host Color:
Q. Can you write a brief introduction about HostColor?
Host Color Answer: Host Color is a U.S., Delaware incorporated web hosting company. We serving personal website owners and small businesses since 2000. Our company is focused to give a choice to web entrepreneurs, to provide reliable and flexible hosting services and to personalize customer care, and technical support. We maintain 3 hosting centers – one in United States (South Bend, Indiana) and two in European Union (Amsterdam, The Netherlands and Sofia, Bulgaria).
Another important thing about our company is that we cut off the price of web hostign services with 15% for academics and non-governmental organizations.
Alongside with our U.S. web hosting services we also do shared hosting in Europe through Host Color Europe (http://www.hostcolor.eu), web site and managed hosting through our division Host Color Servers (http://www.hostcolorservers.com).
Q. What type of support HostColor offers?
Host Color Answer: Host Color does support by phone, support tickets, e-mail and stays in touch with customers on ICQ. We however encourage our customers to submit support tickets. This way we are able to monitor our support operations and to improve quality. Our success in the hosting business is mainly due to our employees’ dedication to their work. Our qualified staff ensures that we provide the good customer support.
Q. What is the avarage time response for your Hosting Customers?
Host Color Answer: Our support operators take calls on our Toll-free support line and provides instant support there. Average response time on support tickets is 15 minutes.
Q. Do you think HostColor is the best choice for Bloggers? Why?
Host Color Answer: We restrain from using words like „best“. What we want bloggers to know about us is that Host Color isn’t about hosting as usual. We understand bloggers. We know that they need to be creative and must be inspired of something to produce great content. We support their work by providing good technical environment, best customer care and by encouraging them to brand their blogs.
Q. If someone is new to blogging and they want to upgrade to the latest version but they are not familiar with it. HostColor offers those kind of help/service?
Host Color Answer: Sure! Bloggers who want to use innovative tools and platforms are invited. We are happy when our customers send a notification that there is a new version of a software that they want to use. We work hard to find, text and add valuable and user-friendly tools and features to our services.
Q. Any of your customer is allowed to use all the bandwidth and disk space resource for the package that they bought?
Host Color Answer: Are there any web hosts that impose restrictions of use on their own offerings
? Well, I’m joking of course. It is sadly but we know many web hosts that use marketing tricks and mislead their prospective customers. We don’t walk this way. I’m proud to say that we deliver what we promise. That’s why our service policy is fair, our disc space and all the data transfer quotas are reasonable. As well as our prices.
Q. What kind of websites Host Color will not welcome because of “Heavy Server Load”?
Host Color Answer: We do not define websites like that. It is about web hosts offering. If they are fair enough customers will be able to make their judgments to sign-up or not. We do not have in our “Terms of service” a paragraph which says we put restrictions against customers’ sites that cause heavy server loads. We do not oversell and that’s why we have enough resources. If however any website causes heavy load of any server we usually try to help its owner to optimize it. If it is not possible move it to another machine. Sometimes the website owner needs VPS or Dedicated server.
Q. Can you explain more about the program “Try and Buy”?
Host Color Answer: We’ve decide to launch this one because after we received positive feedback from a customer survey. We think that since most customers appreciate our services, we can offer a trial period for those who need to try the service. We understand that there are ten thousands of web host around and many of them give negative experience to many site

Q. In this Hosting industry there are millions of hosting companies. Why People will join HostColor? Is there something special?
Host Color Answer: Almost every company believes its is special. We don’t. That means to improve the community around Host Color, to create a place where our customers will be able to share their experience in web site managements and Internet business. We are in the final stage of building our new Customer care center. I think anyone who partners to our company will like it.

Things I like about Host Color
- Payment Methods: They accept all major credit cards and Paypal. I remember when I was searching for a hosting company I stopped by a Business hosting company and didn’t try them because they were only accepting paypal. Accepting only paypal you will miss customers that live in countries that is not listed in Paypal.
- Discounts: Host Color have offered exclusive Coupon Codes for Googlelady’s readers and I am happy about it, but also checking their main site they offer extra 5% discount if you use American Express. Even if you are a returned customer you get a 15% discount from them.
- Excellent Support: The first thing I do when I want to choose a hosting account I check their support. Researching over the net and asking host color customers I can confirm that their support is excellent.
I was new to web site development and submitted a number of support tickets. Support was fast with response and my frustrations were result of my inexperience. Now service is high uptime, excellent speed and GREAT VALUE. From wachtenheim.com

- Multiple Website Hosting: This is another major factor that you have to look into a hosting company. HostColor offers it depending on which pagage you choose.
- Europe and USA Data Centers: It is very unsual to see hosting companies having their datacenters in more than one country. For this reason I can recommend that if you are in Europe and your are advertising Europe’s visitors register your hosting with the Europe datacenter. Your site will load faster.
Things I don’t Like about HostColor:
- Forum Support: Their forum support is slow and have been seen many posts unanswered. Also it seems that one staff only is active there. Usually a desesperated customer which has an issue will go first in the forum and hope to get a faster answer. But as HostColor said in the interview they encourage their customers to make a support ticket for faster answers.
- Downtime and Heavy Server Load: No company is perfect, but I have noticed while I was doing my research that there are hostcolor customers complaining about Downtime and answers from HostColor about “Heavy Server Load”. But would recommend HostColor to guide their customers that don’t have knowledge about it or add a message on each package about this issue. This is normal when you buy a shared-hosting account. That’s why if you have a high-traffic website/blog and forum is recommended to buy a VPS or Dedicated server.
To close this review would like to post some HostColor testimonials from both sides (good and bad):
Hostcolor is one of two hosts that i have sites with, And i must say that while they have had a few issues in the past, i would have to rate them higher.
Support responses from Hostcolor always come back within 5 minutes to 3 hours, no matter what time of night or day - a really good thing, especially when the low cost is factored into this!!
There were a few issues with every file being owned by root recently, but a quick email to support and the files were changed back to their original permissions.

Our site has been down on a regular basis recently, every time we raise a ticket we get the answer “heavy Server Load”.This is not really an acceptable answer, its not our site causing you problems so why should we suffer from your poor server management.

We quickly and efficently brought up a basic site with mail forwarding within hours of signing up. Perhaps it is our inexperience building a site, but the on-line helps wern’t useful for tasks like manafing users, setting up subdomains, setting up FTP access, and getting email.
