How can you NOT forget url googlelady.com.. when I first ran into this website I thought it was a brandable/easy name to remember…

I think the key in URL is if people will REMEMBER your site/url name…

Brandable URL or URLs without keywords will surely work for sites but with the niche competition so hot nowadays, even such secondary benefit are being used by webmasters.

Anyway, this article does ease my regrets of having my name as the URL of my blogging guide blog.

its a great strategy for niches right now. I’ve had luck with it myself but doesnt always work. Either way, a good SEO strategy if you can make it happen.

to your site by using your domain name as the anchor text

it definitely helps. I have a url that has the word cheap skateboards in it, and I get a TON of hits from google. The bounce rate is huge though.

If you are looking traffic from search engine keyword in URL will help. Even if your domain name doesn’t have keyword still you can get traffic all you need to build the content towards that niche. One of the reasons why SEO prefer to have keywords in page URL is that it will tell the user what that page is all about. I think keywords in URL are more of user usability than for SEO purpose.

Matt is only talking about Google, it is still very easy to game MSN (and Yahoo to some extent) search by using keyword specific domain names.
