What’s up Commission Junction?
May 10, 2008
I have been a commission juction member since 2002 under the name of eTalk Network and also have my personal account which have been since 2003. I will not mix both accounts here but let me talk about my personal Commission Juction account.
I can say that what is good about Commission Juction is the big variety of programs that they provide to the publisher and that is normal because they have been in the industry long ago. But I describe them as an “Old Fashion” affiliate program. Lately, I have seen many affiliate programs getting out from Commission Juction and going to another affiliate network or their in-house affiliate program.
Some examples will be eBay which got out from CJ and created their own affiliate program. Abebooks which moved from CJ to Permormics. Easy Forex which moved to their in-house affiliate program but shame on them that they didn’t announced to their publisher about that (Others like eBay and Abebooks did it).
I know that there are many other programs that are getting out from CJ. My question is, what’s up Commission Juction? Why is this happening is there any reason that any of those companies can tell their publisher or the media why they are moving out from CJ? If I am not wrong CJ have the biggest publisher membership than any other affiliate network.
I have read many publishers (affiliate marketers) that post on forums or on their blogs that affiliate programs sometimes don’t “Count” their commissions. Let me tell you something I am a person which believes in statistics and analysis since 2002, lately I have a doubt that all affiliate networks are honest with their publishers. Commission Juction have to improve in this field. The Only Affiliate network that I have total faith that they are very honest is Pepperjam Network which we (eTalk Network) are testing some of their affiliate programs slowly and we have seen that the Conversion rate there is higher than CJ. We just hope that Pepperjam network will increase the affiliate programs there (And they are doing it) and invite some big companies like: Buy.com, Target, Walmart, MacMall and some others.

I have been wonder about CJ ever since eBay bailed on them. I have been with them probably about as long as you have and I think eBay’s leaving probably had a big effect on their business.

We have had thousands and thousands of impressions, hundreds of dollars from other affiliates – and not one cent from Commission Junction!
