Just read some criticism about Cuil. Website's slow response times, irrelevant or wrong search results. Cuil also criticized for its focus on search engine index size rather than relevance. Still have a lot to improve, IMHO.

Hey,
I had heard of Cuil before reading your post, but didnt pay any notice to it at all. I have taken a look and quite like it so far. OK I only did a few searches, but was surprised to see two of my websites appear on the first page for their target key phrases :)
I assume that their results will be pretty similar to those of Google because of the same 'brains' behind some of the technology, which could account for similar results with my own sites.
Time will surely tell if this promising engine can make a dent in Google's share of the search market, that is unless they are suddenly bought out by the likes of Google, Microsoft or Yahoo!

"some of the formulas it uses for ranking search results"....but obviously not the ones that matter! In terms of relevancy Cuil is the worst search engine I think I've ever seen! I'm not even going to go into it associating the wrong images with the wrong domains as well.

I worked for a small startup 10 years ago that were writing a search engine that produced infinitely better results than that, the company went without a trace. If these weren't ex Google exployees then this wouldn't even be getting air time.

I'd say 'dont quit your day job' but most of them already did! I found the interface completely counter intuitive and unnatural - 2 col v 3 col? no options for headlines only...how is their search 'more' relevant than the "G"?

hummmm......

signed

still a googler
